Registered Massage Therapy

REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPY

Hands-on care to support movement, recovery, and function.

Registered Massage Therapy at HES Collaborative Health provides individualized, hands-on care to address muscle and soft-tissue concerns, support recovery, improve mobility, and help you move and function more comfortably.

Massage therapy guided by your needs and goals.

Registered Massage Therapy begins with understanding your symptoms, health history, physical demands, and treatment goals. Your RMT will assess relevant areas of movement and soft-tissue function and develop a treatment approach based on your individual presentation.

Treatment may incorporate different hands-on techniques depending on your needs, comfort, response to treatment, and goals. Your care can be adjusted over time as your condition and functional needs change.

TREATMENT APPROACHES

Hands-on techniques selected for your individual needs.

Your RMT may incorporate different techniques within a treatment session based on the findings of your assessment and your treatment goals.

Soft Tissue Techniques

Hands-on techniques may be used to address muscular tension, soft-tissue restrictions, discomfort, and areas affecting movement and function.

Deep Tissue Techniques

More focused techniques may be used to work with deeper muscular and connective tissues when appropriate to your presentation and treatment goals. Effective treatment does not necessarily require excessive pressure or discomfort.

Myofascial Techniques

Techniques directed toward fascia and surrounding soft tissues may be incorporated where tissue restrictions are contributing to discomfort or limitations in movement.

Trigger Point Therapy

Focused treatment may be applied to areas of muscular tension or sensitivity that can contribute to local discomfort or symptoms experienced elsewhere in the body.

Joint Mobilization

Controlled, hands-on techniques may be used when appropriate to address joint mobility restrictions and support more comfortable movement.

Sports & Activity-related Treatment

Treatment can be adapted to the physical demands associated with exercise, sport, repetitive activity, and recovery, with consideration of your activities and functional goals.

INDIVIDUALIZED CARE

Treatment adapted to different stages, activities, and needs.

Registered Massage Therapy is not based on a single treatment style. The techniques used, areas addressed, and treatment approach are selected according to your assessment and individual needs.

Depending on the training and practice focus of your RMT, care may also address specialized areas such as pregnancy-related musculoskeletal concerns, jaw and TMJ-related tension, scar and soft-tissue restrictions, or other specific treatment needs.

Specific areas of advanced training will be identified on each practitioner’s profile.

ACCIDENT RECOVERY

Supporting soft-tissue recovery after a motor vehicle accident.

Motor vehicle accidents can contribute to muscle tension, pain, stiffness, reduced mobility, and other soft-tissue concerns that affect everyday function.

Registered Massage Therapy may be incorporated into your recovery plan to address relevant muscle and soft-tissue concerns, support mobility, and help you work toward your functional goals.

When appropriate, massage therapy can also be coordinated with other services at HES Collaborative Health as part of a broader approach to recovery.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your treatment begins with understanding your concerns.

Assessment

Your RMT will discuss your health history, current symptoms, activities, functional concerns, and treatment goals and perform an assessment relevant to your presentation.

Individualized Treatment

Your treatment is selected according to the findings of your assessment and may incorporate different hands-on techniques based on your needs and comfort.

Communication & Comfort

Communication is an important part of your treatment. Your RMT will work with you regarding positioning, pressure, areas being treated, and your comfort throughout the session.

Ongoing Care

Your response to treatment and progress can be reviewed over time so that your care can be adjusted as your needs and goals change.

BETTER TOGETHER

Registered Massage Therapy as part of connected care.

At HES Collaborative Health, Registered Massage Therapy can be provided independently or, when appropriate, alongside other services within the clinic.

For example, massage therapy may help address muscle and soft-tissue concerns while physiotherapy or Active Rehabilitation focuses on other aspects of movement, strength, and functional recovery.

A collaborative approach allows different aspects of your care to be considered while keeping your individual goals at the centre of treatment.
